Specialized Continuing Education

Fundació Puigvert offers a wide continuing education program aimed at health professionals who want to update and deepen their knowledge in urology, nephrology, andrology, reproductive medicine, and transversal areas such as nursing, anesthesiology, laboratories, and clinical psychology.

This training includes courses, conferences, seminars, and workshops, with in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats, tailored to the current needs of the healthcare sector.

Andrology

The postgraduate training program in Andrology of the Andrology Service consists of a 2-year scholarship period, during which the student can obtain the Diploma of Specialist in Andrology awarded by Fundació Puigvert.

It also allows, through a specific exam, to obtain the Clinical Andrologist certificate from the European Academy of Andrology.

This training is aimed at specialists, both national and international, coming from fields related to this area of medicine, such as Urology or Endocrinology. It requires possession of a recognized degree in Medicine and Surgery.

Clinical Psychology

The Psychotherapist Training Program of the Clinical Psychology Service is accredited by the FEAP-EAP (Spanish Federation of Psychotherapy Associations – European Association for Psychotherapy) and lasts for 4 years. The fundamental axis of the training is supervised clinical experience, which takes place in the hospital setting and in outpatient and inpatient contexts.

Psychotherapeutic interventions occur within a model of comprehensive health care, which incorporates interdisciplinary work with care teams and collaboration with the service’s research projects.

Endourology Scholarship

The urology department of Fundació Puigvert has the urolithiasis and endourology unit. This unit is subspecialized in the treatment and medical-surgical technique of urolithiasis. The unit offers a high-complexity management for patients with lithiasis including diagnosis, surgical treatment, metabolic management, and biochemical study of lithiasis.

It is a high-volume center where more than 250 ureteroscopies, 150 percutaneous nephrolithotomies, and over 1000 extracorporeal lithotripsies are performed annually. It is also involved in multiple medical-surgical research programs.

Urolithiasis is a disease whose prevalence is continuously increasing; the technology for its treatment is also constantly diversifying, making it necessary for urologists to undertake subspecialty studies to have the necessary knowledge for optimal disease treatment.

This funded training stay lasts 1 year and is intended for doctors who have completed a residency in urology, preferably from developing countries, and is designed to acquire knowledge and professional skills in the field of urolithiasis.

Pediatric Urology Scholarship

The Pediatric Urology scholarship, directed by Dr. Anna Bujons, PhD, FEAPU, is part of the pediatric urology unit of the Urology Service of Fundació Puigvert and consists of a period of 2 academic years.

The general objective of the scholarship is to train urologists or pediatric surgeons in the subspecialty of pediatric urology so they can promote pediatric urological research and provide the highest care to pediatric urological patients. The student is also trained in clinical research, writing abstracts and reports, and presentations at scientific congresses. The aim is to train highly qualified academic doctors, as well as to increase the number of subspecialists in pediatric urology with training in Spain.

The training stays at Fundació Puigvert are aimed at specialists with active qualifications and residents, both national and international, who wish to access high specialization training in our accredited units.

For Spanish nationals, the application is made through the Academic Management Office and is considered extracurricular continuing education.

For international professionals, these stays require authorization from the Ministry of Health and do not result in the obtaining of official certifications or the recognition of degrees.

EUSP Reception Center

Fundació Puigvert is certified as an “EUSP Reception Center,” an international recognition as a European quality center that allows the reception of fellows from the European Urological Scholarship Programmes (EUSP).

In this context, Fundació Puigvert is a certified training center in Europe in seven urological subspecialties: urothelial cancer, prostate and renal cancer, renal transplantation, kidney stones, female urology and incontinence, and pediatric urology.
