Fundació Puigvert↗︎
Fundació Puigvert positions itself as a pioneering center in research and innovation, with a clear commitment to cutting-edge technology and the transfer of knowledge to clinical practice.
Research allows us to advance in the essential knowledge
to innovate and transform the care of our patients.
Support Area
for Research
The Support Area for Research, created in 2019, contributes to the quality and efficiency of the development of scientific projects, providing support in the coordination, management, and monitoring of studies, as well as in the relationship with external promoters.
The specialized team facilitates the generation of knowledge in urology, nephrology, andrology, and reproductive medicine, collaborating closely with internal and external research groups.
What makes us different
Highly specialized stable staff
The Support Area team consists of professionals from different health sciences disciplines and administrative staff who, on a stable basis, contribute their expertise.
Patient support
A key point in the dynamics of the staff in this Area is the support for patients participating in different studies, thus achieving patient-centered care.
360º vision
Integration of assistance, teaching, and research, with a clear focus on innovation and improving the quality of life of patients.
Multidisciplinary team
A very high percentage of our healthcare professionals have a research profile and a high specialization in their areas, which makes their research also very specialized and adds great value.
Patient-centered research
Patient-centered research: All projects are designed to translate scientific advances directly to clinical practice, prioritizing personalized medicine, gender perspective, and close collaboration with patient associations, which actively participate in defining needs, co-responsibility in care, and improving quality of life.
International leadership
Leaders in robotic surgery, kidney transplantation, research on rare hereditary diseases such as “ERKNet (The European Rare Kidney Disease Reference Network)”, and recognitions and infertility, our professionals lead recognized high-prestige societies and scientific groups such as the European accreditation “European Prostate Cancer Centres of Excellence” (EPCCE) in prostate cancer, awarded by consensus by the European Association of Urology.
Research
focus
Clinical and translational research
Projects that range from basic study to direct application in patients with urological, renal, reproductive pathologies, and rare diseases.
Collaborative research Integration at IR Sant Pau
Fundació Puigvert is part of the Sant Pau Research Institute, with three own groups (Nephrology, Urology, and Andrology) and participation in state and European networks.

Research
and innovation lines
The R&D+i of Fundació Puigvert is grouped into four research lines that include rare or minority diseases; urological, renal, and reproductive pathologies.
All of them are structured on the basis of four transversal axes: innovation, personalized medicine, patient-centered research, and gender perspective.
Network research
Fundació Puigvert, thanks to its professionals and infrastructures, is part of national and international expertise networks with research activity. Researchers participate and lead societies and scientific groups that investigate in multicentric/multinational projects carried out to deepen knowledge that brings improvements in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients.
Networks of Clinical Expertise Units (XUEC) in minority diseases, Spanish Society of Nephrology (SEN), Catalan Society of Nephrology (SCN), and European Renal Society (ERA). Active participation in the international network European Registry of Kidney net (ERKnet), GUARD Group, Spanish Urology Association (AEU), European Association of Urology (EAU), European Academy of Andrology (EAA), etc.
