Patient Classroom for Kidney Diseases

The Patient Classroom at Fundació Puigvert is a space for training, support, and guidance aimed at people with chronic kidney disease and their families. It is open to patients from both the Foundation and other centers, and it consolidates as a network of support and shared learning.

All activities are free and are conducted in both in-person and/or virtual formats to facilitate access for everyone.

What does it consist of?

The program offers workshops and monthly activities, from September to June, aimed at improving quality of life, promoting autonomy, and addressing practical and emotional questions about living with the disease.

Eight successful editions and growing impact

The Patient Classroom program reaches its eighth edition this year, establishing itself as a reference in Catalonia for supporting kidney patients.

Over the years, nearly 100 individuals and families have participated annually in the activities, with the involvement of more than 20 professionals from the Foundation (nephrology, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, physical activity sciences, and vascular surgery), as well as collaboration with the Fundació Alícia.

This year’s edition of the Patient Classroom includes:

  • Practical workshops on healthy eating, emotional management, adapted physical activity, treatment care, and self-care.
  • Informative sessions on dialysis treatments, transplantation, medication, and prevention of complications.
  • Dialogue and emotional support spaces for patients and families, with participation from the clinical psychology team.
  • Special activities in collaboration with the Fundació Alícia and other reference entities.
